About the project
GRANOVIT AG stands for animal feed of the highest Swiss quality. Sustainable feed production and healthy animals are its greatest commitments. From the cultivation of raw materials to production and feeding, with over 90 years of experience in animal nutrition. Granovit is one of the largest independent feed manufacturers in Switzerland and produces at three locations close to its customers. The raw materials are free from genetically modified organisms.
Challenge
Successful cattle fattening relies on healthy and optimal rearing of young animals in the barn. Once the foundation for healthy cattle has been laid, nothing stands in the way of successful, sustainable fattening. In order to determine a reliable slaughter forecast with optimal feed use, the farm is visited at specified intervals with a mobile scale to check fattening performance and weight. The animals are weighed and assessed individually. Until now, this required manual recording of animal data on paper with corresponding post-processing. Reports with recommendations were also delivered to customers manually.
Benefits
By digitizing the weighing process in conjunction with the rules for determining optimal slaughter forecasts, customers receive an overview of their livestock with the respective weight gains, slaughter times, and feed recommendations. The administrative effort involved in weighing the animals has been reduced, while at the same time customers can keep track of their livestock at all times via a customer portal with corresponding reports. This enables Granovit to provide optimally tailored feed and gives customers greater planning security for achieving the desired meat quality.
